notice regarding telemarketers: If everybody kept telemarketers on the line for two minutes they would soon be out of business. They have a profit margin of 86%. If everybody kept them on the line for two minutes they would have a loss of 66%. To keep them on the line: ask them for their full name. Or ask them for the name of the company and ask them to spell it for you. You can even pretend like you’re very slow and ask them to spell it again and again. Personally, I enjoy doing this one. Ask them if their company keeps a list of the people they are not supposed to call. Ask them to put you on their do not call list. After they have gone through their speech tell them to hold on a minute they need to speak to someone else in the house who makes those decisions. Or simply tell them to hold on just a minute that you’re very interested in what they are saying but you need to do something right quick and just lay the phone down for two minutes. You can come up with your own ways of stalling them but try to stall them as long as you can the longer you stall them the more money it is costing the company.
